What does the KiföG Saxony-Anhalt regulate?

According to the law for the promotion and care of children in day care facilities and day care of the state of Saxony-Anhalt (Child Promotion Act - KiFöG of November 12, 2004), every child with habitual residence in the state of Saxony-Anhalt is entitled to a full-day place (i.e. 10 hours of care per day) in a day care facility from birth until the child enters the seventh grade of school. This means 10 hours of care per day) in a daycare facility if, for example, there is a need for such support until the child enters school, for reasons of employment, training, further education or the parents' participation in a job promotion measure according to § 3 SGB III.

Who regulates the costs of care?

Parents whose children attend a kindergarten must pay contributions for the provision of a kindergarten place. The obligation to pay contributions begins with the 1st month in which the child is admitted. It ends in the month following the written notice of withdrawal. The contribution is to be paid in advance and is due on the 3rd working day of a month at the latest. The parental contribution is an annual contribution, which is divided into 12 months. It must be paid even if the child does not attend kindergarten due to illness or other reasons.
In the case of parents with low incomes, the Youth Welfare Office will waive the parental contribution in accordance with §13 SGB Kifög in conjunction with § 90 SGB if the burden is unreasonable for the parents and the child. The relevant applications for exemption or reduction of the parental contribution can be obtained from the Youth Welfare Office or from the individual providers.
